WOK Copenhagen – Two Years of Restaurant Photography for Social Media

WOK serves modern Thai food in Copenhagen: fresh ingredients, classic dishes and a fast-moving kitchen. Since our first shoot about two years ago, I’ve been their go-to photographer for dishes, interiors and the people behind the counter. It started as one shoot and became a regular collaboration. That says more than any adjective I could write here.

The challenge

Social media eats content faster than a lunch rush eats spring rolls. A restaurant like WOK needs a steady flow of images that look consistent, feel like the brand and make people hungry, without stopping the kitchen every time a camera shows up.

Thai wok dishes add their own twist. Herbs wilt, steam disappears and noodles don’t wait for anyone. You get a few seconds where the dish looks its best, and then it’s gone.

What we shot

Everything, really:

  • Dishes: signature wok dishes, noodles, curries and the small crispy things, shot fresh from the pan.

  • Action: woks over the flame, steam, sauce hitting hot metal. The energy of the kitchen.

  • Interior: the restaurant space, the counter and the exterior with WOK’s signage.

  • People: portraits and candid moments of the team, in and out of the kitchen.

Having spent 10+ years in professional kitchens, from dishwasher to head chef, I know when to step in and when to stay out of the way. I know which dish has to be shot first. I also know that “can you hold that pan one more second?” has a limit.

How it works long-term

The real value of an ongoing collaboration is consistency. After the first shoot, we kept coming back. Each session adds fresh material to WOK’s social media: new dishes, new team faces and new angles on familiar favourites. They always have something new to post, and it still looks like WOK.

Because I already know the kitchen, the team and the visual style, every new session starts at full speed.
